Eat your veggies first for a lower TruAge

"Want to feel and look younger? Morinda researchers have some advice on how to start out your meals.

“Eat your vegetables or you won’t get any dessert!” Does that sound familiar? Chances are we were all Want to feel and look younger? Morinda researchers have some advice on how to start out your meals.told that by our parents when we were children. And for those of you that are parents now, you’ve probably told that to your kids as well.

Well as it turns out,
Morinda has found evidence suggesting that not only is eating vegetables important, but eating them in the right order is important as well. In fact, this can play a role in determining our TruAge.

The Morinda Research and Development team in Japan surveyed the lifestyle of 4,017 people and measured their
Advanced Glycation End-product levels with the TruAge Scanner. In the process, a very interesting trend was discovered.

The researchers found that the people in the survey who ate their vegetables before eating carbohydrates during a meal had a TruAge that was on average about four years younger than their actual age.

Meanwhile, the people who didn’t eat their vegetables first had a TruAge that was on average about six years older than their actual age. That’s a 10-year difference in their TruAge!

Vegetables and TruAge

These findings of course indicate that eating your vegetables first helps manage your AGEs. According to the researchers, it may be because of dietary fiber, which can slow down the elevation of blood sugar levels. Low blood sugar leads to low AGE levels. That’s why we introduced
Sugar Stop as part of our TruAge line of products.

So, the next time your family whines about having to eat vegetables, you may want to bring this info to their attention.

Now pass the broccoli, please!

If Paris has the Champs-Élysées and Italy has Milan, Korea boasts Apgujeong and Cheongdam-dong. They are located right at the entry of Gangnam (literally meaning, “South of Hangang River”). If one lives in Gangnam, he or she is regarded as having “new money,” while those in Seongbuk-dong, Hannam-dong, and Pyeongchang-dong are those with “family money.”

Apgujeong and Cheongdam-dong are the main shopping districts for the rich in Gangnam. Many young people interested in fashion and hair crowd the district. Considered to be ‘hot’ places, Apgujeong and Cheongdam-dong typically lead in new fashion styles and social trends in Korea.

Connecting Apgujeong and Cheongdam-dong, Apgujeong-ro (ro meaning ‘boulevard’) is the center of luxury fashion and is full of a chic department stores and luxury brands. Korean shopping Ewha Univ. & Sinchon

Favorite Haunts of the Young and Free-spirited

Located in Northwest Seoul, Sinchon is home to a number of private universities, earning the area its nickname ‘University Streets of Sinchon’. In particular, the street between Sinchon Station (Subway Line 2) and Edae (abbreviated for Ewha Women’s University) is a shopper’s paradise, offering a wide range of styles and prices. The collection of trendy stores, bars, and delicious cuisine draws out throngs of college students and other freethinkers year-round, making this one of the most creative and energetic places in the city.

Shopper’s Nirvana: Edae’s Fashion for Young Women
The commercial street between the Ewha Station and Ewha Women’s University is considered one of the hottest shopping areas for young women in Korea. Although some changes may be forthcoming with the construction of a new giant shopping mall, the street will still house chic hair salons, dazzling fashion shops, and outstanding cafés, exuding a unique image and taste tailored to young women.

History and Culture: Sinchon Railway Station
Sinchon Railway Station—between Ewha Women’s University and Yonsei University—is the oldest railway station in Seoul. Originally intended to be a whistle-stop along the Gyeongui Line connecting Seoul and Sinuiju (located in present-day North Korea), the station was built in 1920, almost five years before the construction of Seoul Station. After the division of the two Koreas, the station became the departure site to Munsan, which is close to the Military Demarcation Line. In an effort to preserve its history, the station was shut down some years later and a new station was built to take its place. The old station still stands as a testament to Sinchon’s important place in Korea’s transportation history. The area has become well known for its bustling commercial life, colorful cafés and various street performances.

Yonsei and Ewha Campuses: College Towns at their Finest!
Alive with an energy all its own, the street between Sinchon Station (Subway Line 2, a 15-minute walk from the Sinchon Railway Station) and Yonsei University is a favorite retreat for the college crowd, who spend many a night relaxing at the various cafés, restaurants, and bookstores. The campuses’ youthful vigor and surrounding 20th-century architecture make the area around Yonsei and Ewha well worth a visit.

Korean shopping Namdaemun Market

Traditional Market with 600 Years of History

“Namdaemun” (formerly “Sungnyemun”) refers to the southern gate of the four gates leading to the castle town during the Joseon Dynasty. As the oldest remaining wooden structure in Seoul and National Treasure No. 1, Namdaemun symbolizes the history of Seoul from the past to the present and is cherished by Koreans everywhere.

Namdaemun Market is located in the east of Namdaemun and in the area between Seoul Station and Myeongdong. As the largest traditional market in Korea, Namdaemun Market used to sell mainly crops, fruits, and sundries, but now deals in textile goods, utensils, electronics, local produce, traditional crafts, imported goods, and much more. It distributes more than 90% of the children’s clothing sold nationwide.

Over 5,400 smaller stores sell goods either directly or wholesale relatively cheap and can be sold at majorly discounted prices, depending on the whims of owners. More than half-a-million visitors from Korea and other countries (mainly Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States) daily stop by the market.

Rather than fancy storefronts, visitors face humble stores and stalls that speak of a bygone era. The market teems with life, filled with commerce and consumers from all over the country. Foods beloved by Koreans--such as kimchi, pork hocks, and hairtails (beltfish)—further add to the market’s colorful atmosphere.

There are no language barriers here, as owners have a long history of interacting with international visitors. Even though it can be crowded and hectic, visitors are strongly encouraged to visit the market if they want to experience the feel of a Korean traditional marketplace and/or purchase a variety of goods at cheap prices.

Because Namdaemun-ro (Jung-gu) has numerous financial centers and is one of the busiest places in Seoul, shopping streets and tourism sites (and the market itself) are crowded at all times. Visitors are advised to plan their shopping trip ahead of time and obtain shopping information before going to the market.

What is TruAge?

"Editor's note: This article was originally published February 26, 2013. It has been updated to include the latest Morinda product information."

Getting old is the worst. Actually, scratch that. Getting old isn't that bad. FEELING old is the worst.

Nobody wants to feel old. Even when we get old, nobody wants to feel old. If there is one universal truth, one desire that lives in the hearts of everyone around the world, it's this: Everyone wants to feel, look and be younger, longer. Birthdays shouldn't determine our worth. Age, that dinky little number, shouldn't determine our lifestyle.

So may we offer a radical suggestion? Don't let it.

Stand up to aging once and for all. Say no to feeling tired, weak and broken down. Live younger, longer, and do it by managing the levels of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) in your body. In other words, start living your TruAge.

What is TruAge?

First, you need to know that age and TruAge are two very different things. Your age is a number. Specifically, the number of birthdays you've had. TruAge, on the other hand, is a term used to describe your internal age. How old you are inside, or the level at which your body looks and performs every day. Your TruAge is based on the number of AGEs in your body.

To illustrate, let me introduce you to two (fake) people: Louie and Marge.

Louie's a real party animal. Every day he eats cold pizza for breakfast, a burger for lunch, and two liters of soda for dinner. He smokes, he drinks, and the only exercise he gets is getting up to take movies to the mailbox. Louie is 29 years old, but his AGE levels may be much higher than the average 29 year old, affecting his organs, muscles, joints and cells. His TrūAge may be 63, meaning he has the AGE levels of someone more than double his age.

Marge gives thanks every day for her health. She starts the day with yoga, she walks to work, and three times a week she goes jogging. Marge eats green veggies, whole grains and lean protein. She doesn't smoke, she doesn't drink, she doesn't do drugs, and she gets plenty of sleep every night. Marge is 59 years old, but her TruAge may be much younger, say 31. A TruAge of 31 means Marge has the AGE levels of someone nearly half her age. Her relatively young TruAge means Marge has vibrant energy--she's able live much younger than she actually is.

Louie's AGE levels are high, meaning he is in danger of premature aging, poor heart and brain health, obesity, and even worse. Marge's AGE levels are quite low. That means she's more likely to enjoy a long, healthy life, while looking and feeling a lot younger than she really is.

Louie is younger, but the effects of aging are accelerated due to elevated AGE levels in his body. Marge, even though she's had more birthdays, is in much better shape because she takes care of herself. Her body is healthier and she has the AGE levels of someone nearly half her age. As a result she can do much more, and she'll be able to live younger, longer. That's TruAge.

The word TruAge was coined by Morinda, a health and wellness company, and the leading voice in AGE management. Morinda has devoted its time, energy and resources to the measurement and management of AGEs.

To measure AGEs, Morinda has partnered with Diagnoptics, a world leader in biotechnology, to develop the TruAge Scanner. The TruAge Scanner is a small, lightweight spectrometer that uses cutting edge technology to accurately and painlessly measure AGE levels in the body. After a brief scan (usually less than 20 seconds, total), the TruAge Scanner will deliver two numbers: your personal AGE levels, and your TruAge.

And for AGE-management, look no further than Morinda’s excellent line of TruAge products. At the head of the class is TruAge Max. Studies have shown Max can lower AGEs by up to 24% when taken daily for four weeks.

Yeah. 24%.

And Max is just one part of the complete AGE management system. TruAge Performance Rapid Fuel delivers high-quality protein to your body to help build lean muscle. TruAge Body Sugar Stop effectively blocks some sugar absorption in the body. Max, Rapid Fuel and Sugar Stop all fight AGEs individually, and working together they form a powerful daily AGE-fighting system.

In July, at the North America Business Summit in New York City, Morinda will launch AGE Therapy Gel, and Morinda’s four-pronged AGE-fighting system will be complete.

Interested? Find out your TruAge at a TruAge scanning event near you. And try Max for yourself to see what great things can happen when you take control of your AGE levels. Don't let your age slow you down anymore. Fight AGEs, and start living younger, longer.

Incredibly Healthy Herb: Ginseng

Incredibly Healthy Herb: Ginseng

Incredibly Healthy Herb: Ginseng
Legend has it that the famous Chinese monarch Qin Shi Huang regularly ate ginseng, in hopes of gaining eternal life. During the Joseon Dynasty, King Yeongjo, who lived to be 83, also made ginseng a regular part of his diet. The trend continues today as everyone from movie and sports stars, like Choi Ji-Woo and Chan-Ho Park, turn to ginseng to try to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Ginseng is a root whose shape resembles a human body and is highly esteemed in both the East and West. Korean ginseng (called Panax Ginseng) in particular is known worldwide for its amazing health benefits. Korea is said to be the best place to grow ginseng because the country has four distinct seasons, proper temperatures, excellent soil, and an adequate amount of annual rainfall.

It is true that many other countries also grow ginseng, but panax ginseng is of better quality and has more health benefits than ginseng grown in the United States, Japan, or China because it contains more saponins.

Effects of Saponin and Ginseng

ginseng06
Although ginseng contains plenty of amino acids, vitamins, and minerals, its health benefits cannot fully be explained without saponins. The saponins in ginseng are usually referred to as ‘ginsenosides’ in order to differentiate them from the saponins found in other vegetables such as garlic, onion, and bellflowers.

Ginsenosides boost immunity, help reduce the signs of stress, and increase blood circulation. Many studies have shown that ginseng also helps fight cancer, improve liver functions, and slow down the aging process.

Why Is Six the ‘Magic Number?’

Ginseng reaches maturity in its sixth year. Saponins, which begin to grow during ginseng’s third year, reach their maximum during the sixth year. The quality of the ginseng plummets after year seven, as the root develops a rough surface and stops growing.

Types of Ginseng

Giseng is called a variety of names depending on how it’s processed.
• Susam (or saengsam): unprocessed ginseng picked right out of the field
• Baeksam: cleaned and dried ginseng
• Hongsam: steamed and dried six-year-old ginseng (red in color)
Ginseng produces a number of new nutrients as it goes through the steaming and drying process. These new nutrients are present only in Hongsam and are elements that are believed to slow down the aging process and prevent cancer and obesity.
ginseng02

Storage of Ginseng

Susam consists of more than 75% water, making it vulnerable to mold. It needs to be wrapped with newspaper or plastic bags and refrigerated. Once it is out of the refrigerator, it must be used immediately.

Baeksam can be stored up to one year if stored in a place without a lot of moisture. Vacuum-packed baeksam can last up to three years.

Vacuum-packed hongsam can be stored for more than ten years.

Dishes Using Ginseng

ginseng03
The most well-known ginseng dish is samgyetang (Korean chicken and ginseng soup). It has an abundance of nutrients and is known to increase stamina. Samgyetang is cooked with ginseng, sweet rice, chestnuts, jujubes and more. Ginseng can also be used for making sweet insamjeong (ginseng preserved with sugar and honey) and tasty fried ginseng. Ginseng juice mixed with milk and honey is another delicious way to enjoy this incredible root.

Korea’s Favorite Fermented Superfood: Kimchi

Korea’s Favorite Fermented Superfood: Kimchi

Korea’s Favorite Fermented Superfood: Kimchi
In Korea, no meal is complete without a side of kimchi. Nationally recognized for its health benefits since ancient times, kimchi started gaining international acclaim after Korean scientists offered data suggesting kimchi as a cure for AI (Avian Influence, commonly referred to as ‘bird flu’). Although the results of the study were not conclusive, kimchi’s myriad of health benefits earned it a place as ‘one of the five healthiest foods in the world’ (U.S. Health Magazine) along with olive oil (Spain) and natto (Japan).

Kimchi is a fermented food. Typically, Chinese cabbage or white radish is salted and mixed with red chili peppers, garlic, ginger, salted fish, and other ingredients. Originating from fermented and salted vegetables that were prepared during the winter, kimchi played a crucial role in the Korean diet in a time when vegetables were not readily available.

Kimchi
Types of kimchi vary by region and season. Kimchi has more than 180 varieties, including Baechu Kimchi (배추김치, Cabbage Kimchi, most commonly served), Bossam Kimchi (보쌈김치, Rolled Kimchi), Baek Kimchi (백김치, White Cabbage Kimchi), Chonggak Kimchi (총각김치, Whole Radish Kimchi), Kkakdugi (깍두기, Chopped Radish Kimchi), Dongchimi (동치미, Winter White Water Kimchi), Oi Sobagi (오이소박이, Stuffed Cucumber Kimchi), Pa Kimchi (파김치, Scallion Kimchi), and Gat Kimchi (Leaf Mustard Kimchi).

Even when seated in front of a lavish feast, most Koreans tend to look for the kimchi first. Korean tastes may have changed over the years, but one thing remains the same: kimchi is a must-have item at the table. Almost every restaurant in Korea (even many serving ‘western food’) serves kimchi as a free side dish, complete with unlimited refills. Koreans’ love affair with kimchi even led to the invention of a refrigerator designed specifically for storing kimchi. Today, over fifteen years since its invention, the kimchi refrigerator can be found in roughly 80 percent of Korean households.

Koreans’ love affair with kimchi led to the invention of a refrigerator designed specifically for storing kimchi. Today, over fifteen years since its invention, the kimchi refrigerator can be found in roughly 80 percent of Korean households.

Kimchi Nutrition Facts

Made of a diversity of vegetables, kimchi contains an abundance of dietary fibers and is low in calories. It also provides important sources of vitamins and minerals, such as: vitamin C, vitamin B, beta-carotene, calcium, iron, and phosphates. Many studies over the years suggest that the lactobacillus in kimchi help fight against bacteria and cancer and help prevent aging and obesity. They are equally effective as treatments for age-related diseases (such as high blood pressure and diabetes), heart disease, and digestive diseases.

Ideal Kimchi Storage

Kimchi is best when fermented 2-3 weeks at 2-7℃, as opposed to being fermented for extended periods of time. Its taste and nutritional value peak during this time. After it’s prepared, Kimchi needs to be stored in an airtight container at a consistent temperature of 0-5℃ to ensure a long shelf-life.

Kimchi Cuisine

Made of well-fermented kimchi, pork, and water, Kimchi Jjigae (김치찌개, kimchi stew) is one of the most popular dishes using kimchi. Other popular dishes that use this ‘miracle food’ as a main ingredient are Kimchi Bokkeumbap (김치볶음밥, kimchi fried rice) and Kimchi Jeon (김치전, kimchi pancake), to name a few.

Living Life to the Max with TruAge Max!

"Yet another person who is happier and healthier because of TruAge Max."

TruAge Max is changing the lives of people all over the world by improving overall health one person at a time. Max is Morinda's best drink for fighting against advanced glycation end-products (AGEs), which can damage the body and cause premature aging. Max also naturally gives you more energy and promotes healthy blood vessel formation and healthy circulatory function. Margie Setterlof is just one of the many people who have experienced the many benefits of Max and is passionate about sharing her amazing story.
Margie has five children, 10 grandchildren and has been married for the last 18 years. She is an advocate for good health and wellness, so much that she runs a very busy nutrition practice within a women's health club. She is passionate about helping women change their outlook about themselves and their life by teaching them how to eat properly, exercise efficiently, and how to adopt an overall healthy lifestyle.
Margie has gone through an amazing experience with Max and shared the following testimonial with us:
"I spent 30 years in the traditional medical field as a physical therapist and have my master's degree in holistic nutrition. In the medical field, the cycle of drugs, surgery and rehab is the treatment of choice regardless of what a person's illness or disease happens to be. I wanted to change this and approach things differently. I am passionate about helping others realize their potential and have a healthy body, soul, and spirit. Helping others realize the experience and abundance that life has to offer was my ultimate goal.
About 10 months ago, I was introduced to Morinda by a friend of mine who simply asked if I would look at the Morinda products and try them out for myself. Being in the nutrition business, I have had many people ask me to do the same thing and usually, I've ended up with less than impressive results. I was also super busy at the time. I would tire out late in the afternoon and had to resort to drinking caffeine just to get through the rest of the day. I willingly tried a bottle of Tahitian Noni Juice and within one weekend, I experienced more energy than I had ever noticed with any other product. I decided to take a serious look at the company and began sharing its products with others just to see what other people might experience. I was absolutely stunned by the results I saw in other people! Some of the responses I heard within a week or two of taking the product included a remarkable improvement in energy, pain reduction, increased flexibility, better breathing. and more stamina and endurance. These responses were phenomenal!
Today, I am drinking and promoting the TruAge Max beverage. The Max has been such a huge benefit to my health. I can't even recall what it feels like to be tired anymore! Between seeing clients all day long at my practice, working out three to four times a week and spending one day a week with my three granddaughters, I still have plenty of energy left over for my husband and friends! I will be 60 years old in a few months and since taking the Max, I am now confident I'll be able to accomplish more now than I did than when I was in my 30's! I love Max and my newfound energy!!"
We know that Margie is not the only one whose life has been forever changed by Morinda products, so if you would like to share your story with us, please visit the testimonials section of our website and click the "tell your story" green tab on the right side of the screen.

The Toast Test

"Maybe a good question to ask about your products—or your lifestyle—is this: Does it pass the toast test?"

PART I: THE MAILLARD REACTION
Advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) aren’t formed without three things: sugar, protein and heat. Heat causes sugar molecules to fuse with protein peptides, and the result is AGEs. Oh, and in case you forgot: AGEs are toxic, corrosive, oxidative little nasties that have a knack for eating away at and destroying healthy cells, organs and systems.

Sugar, protein and heat. When those three things get together the conditions are just right for an AGE party, and your health pays the price.

Nowhere is the chemical reaction between sugar, protein and heat more apparent than on food. Think of a piece of bread, for example. Bread contains both sugar and protein. Bread is usually soft and supple, but something happens when you add an element of heat. The bread changes color. It becomes stiff and brown, and we don’t call it bread anymore. We call it toast.

What happened? Well, in short, the combination of sugar, protein and heat caused AGEs to form all over the face of that bread.

When you watch bread become toast, you’re actually witnessing a scientific phenomenon called the Maillard reaction. This reaction describes the process of sugar melting, caramelizing, and fusing with protein. In other words, you are witnessing the formation of AGEs.

PART II: YOU ARE BREAD
Before you start fantasizing about slathering butter and jelly all over that freshly toasted bread, consider this: the Maillard reaction reaches far beyond food; in fact, the Maillard reaction describes the fusing of sugar and protein wherever those two things happen to be. The Maillard reaction can take place on a piece of bread, under the heat coils of a toaster oven, or it can happen inside your body.

So imagine a piece of bread again, and imagine a toaster oven sitting beside it. We’re going to run our imaginary bread through our imaginary toaster oven once again, but this time I want you to think about your skin, or your kidneys, or the billions of healthy cells in your body. All of those things in your body contain sugar and protein, just like bread. And just like bread, your cells are subject to the AGE-creating Maillard reaction.

Just as heat causes AGEs to form all over the face of a nice soft piece of bread, turning it into toast, so will heat cause AGEs to form all over your cells, organs and systems, making them weak, old and damaged.

Want another example? Visit the beach sometime. There you’ll see the kinds of things the heat from the sun will do to skin—be it a leathery dark tan, or a strawberry sunburn. This is the Maillard reaction; this is AGE-formation, right on the surface of the skin.

PART III: THE TOAST TEST
Morinda is the worldwide leader in anti-AGE research and application. Morinda has been developing AGE-fighting products for almost two decades. TruAge Max, Morinda’s next-generation flagship product, was shown in a recent clinical study to lower AGE levels by up to 24% when taken every day. In fact, it was this study that propelled the product development team at Morinda to develop TruAge Core—a line of four products designed to fight AGEs from four distinct directions.

One of these products, TruAge Skin AGE Therapy Gel, has a specific topical application to address the effects of AGE damage on the skin. It contains noni, Cornelian cherry, olive leaf extract, cranberry and blueberry. It also contains known AGE-fighting ingredients like carnosine and oat kernel extract. We at Morinda are very, VERY excited about this product, and we were eager to put it to the test.

That’s where the toast comes in. That’s right—we’re not done with toast yet.

Morinda researchers had a question: Could AGE Therapy Gel protect bread from the big bad toaster? We claim AGE Therapy Gel will protect your skin from AGE formation—would it also protect bread? With a soft, fluffy piece of bread in hand, our research team decided to spread AGE Therapy Gel on specific parts of the bread, leaving the other parts untouched. They then exposed the bread to direct heat in a toaster oven.

And then they waited.

The results were fascinating and encouraging. The edges around the areas where AGE Therapy Gel was spread looked like normal toast. The spots with AGE Therapy Gel were almost completely unaffected.
It looked as if the AGE Therapy Gel spot was not affected by the heat at all. The AGE Therapy Gel area was soft and colorless. The proven, high quality AGE-fighting formula found in AGE Therapy Gel prevented the Maillard reaction from taking place, and AGE Therapy Gel protected the piece of bread from harmful AGEs.

AGE Therapy Gel passed the toast test.

PART IV: BREAD IS A SYMBOL
The toast test is a simplified, visual explanation of how AGE Therapy Gel works. In this test, the ingredients found in AGE Therapy Gel, like noni, Cornelian cherry, carnosine and oat kernel extract, created a protective barrier against AGEs—keeping sugar, protein and heat at bay. That’s how AGE Therapy Gel keeps your skin looking soft, strong and young with plenty of elasticity.

But in the grander sense, the bread we use for the toast test is a symbol for how ALL of the products found in TruAge Core help you live, look and feel younger, longer. AGEs attack every cell, every organ, every system, every joint, bone and muscle, and they do it all day every day. If your body was a piece of bread, it would be toast before you know it. You need some help, and TruAge Core is just the thing to help you.

TruAge Core is a complete AGE management system. It targets AGEs on the outside and the inside; it blocks, stops, disrupts and eliminates AGEs. It keeps your bread looking soft and supple, in a manner of speaking.

So maybe a good question to ask about your products—or your lifestyle—is this: Does it pass the toast test?

Taiwan alive with TruAge excitement after Business Summit

"The recent Taiwan Business Summit has IPCs eager to reach new heights"

If you thought we were done sharing all the excited reactions from our recent Business Summits around the world, you thought wrong!

After sharing with you the positive feedback for our summits in North America, Japan and Europe, we’re now moving on to Taiwan.

A total of 429 people attended the event, and product sales – when converted to U.S. dollars – were the equivalent of more than $100,000! Among the sales were 254 different TruAge Packs (including, among other types of packs, the new Core Experience and Core Regimen Packs), as well as 1,090 AGE Therapy Gel single units! In addition, 150 people (89 of which were new) were scanned with the TruAge Scanner.

Here’s what Joy Yen, General Manager in Taiwan, had to say about the reaction they’ve gotten since the Business Summit:

“We constantly receive feedback from IPCs for the Taiwan Business Summit.

On August 5th, the Taipei and Kaohsiung offices were packed with IPCs. They were sitting at tables and having group meetings talking about how and when to achieve Area Developer. Also, they are studying about the new TruAge Core Regimen Pack, because they think the TruAge Core Regimen will help them to qualify for AD.

We heard from one leader (Wu Shui Fon) saying that he would like to help his organization to qualify for two EADs and six ADs.

Another leader (Chu Sho Yun) said that she will start to visit all her downline and customers and encourage them to add TruAge Therapy Gel to their current Tahitian Noni Juice orders. From now on, with any new IPC or reward member signup, she will definitely ask them to sign up for TNJ or Max with one more Core product. She thinks TruAge Therapy Gel is the easiest one to add on at the beginning.

Yang Shu Hwei is going to work with her downline to qualify for ADs.

We have many leaders coming to the office and asking for the Business Summit PowerPoint and videos, and they can’t wait to show them to their customers. Also, they can’t wait to demonstrate the toast test to their customers and new friends!

Sales managers and I will hold leaders’ meeting on Wednesday and Thursday. We will help them to review all the strategies for entry point (TruAge Scanner), conversion (AutoShip checkbook, Reward Program, add one product) and advocacy (AD Program and Regional Leader Committee). Also, we will work with leaders to set up goals for (1) scanners, (2) ADs, (3) at least 20% increase in their AutoShip checkbook every month, and (4) numbers of ILC registrations and attendees.”

Regarding the sales they achieved at the summit, including selling nearly 1,300 units of AGE Therapy Gel (when including the Core Packs sold), Joy Yen wrote, “It has never been like this before!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

And yes, that’s how many exclamation points she included!

korean culture area Samcheong-dong

Where Tradition and Modern Artistic Sensibilities Meet

Samcheong-dong is one of the most unique places in Seoul. Gyeongbokgung Palace (the home of royalty during the Joseon Dynasty) lies to its left and Changdeokgung Palace (a secondary palace during the Joseon Dynasty) to its right, with Cheong Wa Dae (the President’s Office) and Insa-dong to the north and south respectively. According to the principles of feng-shui, Samcheong-dong is said to have the absolutely ideal location. Samcheong (sam means “three” and cheong “clean or good”) was given its name in reference to the three things it has plenty of: clean water, beautiful neighboring mountains and kind-hearted residents.

Maintaining the Antique Beauty of Korean Traditional Houses
Samcheong-dong is famous for its Bukchon Hanok (Korean traditional houses) Village. Synonymous with Samcheong-dong, Bukchon refers to the north area of the old capital city where the aristocratic classes lived during the Joseon Dynasty. Maintained remarkably well, the calm, antique beauty of Korean traditional houses standing proud amid the hustle and bustle of the city makes Samcheong-dong one of the most extraordinary places in Seoul. Samcheong-dong seems to appeal to artistic types and in recent years, chic galleries, restaurants, cafés, and accessory shops have sprung up in the surrounding area, respectful integrating themselves into the area’s traditional feel.

Distinctive Cafés and Accessory Shops
Samcheong-dong is home to distinctive cafés, shops, and galleries. Art appreciators have their choice of roughly forty different galleries displaying pieces from professional artists with exceptional skill. The area is filled with European-style cafés and trendy shops that have blended into the traditional landscape, some even taking up residence in renovated hanok that otherwise may have been left to ruin. For those interested in shopping, the area delivers an array for colorful accessory shops along both Main Street in Samcheong-dong and Hwagae-gil Street.

Samcheong-dong radiates serenity, comfort and character not readily seen in other places crowded with giant shopping malls. It’s no wonder it has made such deep impression on visitors from all over the world.

korean shopping area Dongdaemun Market

Dongdaemun Market

Comprehensive Clothes Shopping: from Fabrics to Accessories

Dongdaemun has every fashion item imaginable: fabric, clothes, accessories, and wedding goods. The newest fashion trends, along with the newest fabrics, often make their debut in the market. It is home to the largest clothing suppliers in Korea, and aspiring designers also come to here to hone and test their skills. Cheap and diverse clothes attract not just fashion leaders but also the average consumer. It has become a place frequented by major Korean and international buyers as well.

Dongdaemun Market started as a traditional market in 1905 and experienced its first major transformation in 1970s as it began to develop as a center of the textile industry (both wholesale and retail), further contributing to the fast economic growth of Korea at that time. With the later construction of mega shopping buildings in the area, the market became reborn as the most famous fashion street in Korea.

Wholesalers across the country visit the market at night, forming an iconic night image in Seoul. The market is a mixture of both traditional and modern stores. Some stores maintain their old buildings, selling clothing materials, crafting clothes, or processing them. Modern shopping malls (such as Cerestar, Migliore, Designer’s Club, and Doosan Tower) popped up in the late 1990s, attracting young people by holding frequent music and dance performances at night. Various fashion shows and festivities are also held year-round.

Even though stores may sell goods wholesale, individual consumers and tourists purchase them at retail prices. The market offers special fabrics not found anywhere else and sells material and accessories at very reasonable prices. Simple accessories can even be made on-site at some stores. Plenty of currency exchange services and information desks provide a pleasant shopping experience for international visitors.

korean shopping Myeong-dong

Myeong-dong main

No.1 Tourist Destination

Myeong-dong is one of the busiest places in Seoul and is among Korea’s premier shopping destinations. Over 1 million shoppers pass through this area each and every day. Located in the heart of Seoul, Myeong-dong market has been a witness to Korea’s tumultuous modern-day history as a center of city politics, economy, and culture. To international visitors, Myeong-dong is a stunning shopping district with countless shops and restaurants. Its wild popularity has led to similar shopping districts springing up all across the country.

International Shopping District
Two anchor department stores (Lotte and Shinsegae) and a number of large shopping malls lie along the streets of Myeong-dong. Shops for clothing or cosmetics can be seen at every corner, and street stalls dot the spaces in between, offering tasty snacks, inexpensive clothes, or sparkling accessories. The air is abuzz with the mix of foreign languages as shopkeepers and international tourists haggle in English, Japanese, and more. The area’s well-developed transportation grid makes it the ideal place for visitors who may not yet be familiar with the city.

Fashion, Skincare, and the Works!
Thousands of brands are sold in Myeong-dong. The two major department stores sell mostly luxury brands while shopping malls such as H & M and Migliore offer selections at more modest prices. Relatively inexpensive products can be easily purchased at street stalls and other shops.

Every Korean cosmetic brand has a branch in Myeong-dong. The market is home to roughly a thousand cosmetic shops and hundreds of skin-care stores, with several large cosmetic shops clustered around the central street (Jungang-gil) and Myeongdong Theater. Sales associates usually can speak a few foreigner languages (to some degree), which makes for a pleasant shopping experience for international visitors who don’t speak Korean. For the added convenience of international shoppers, many fliers are written in other languages as well.

Aside from shopping, visitors can check out the Myeongdong Cathedral and the nearby Namdaemun Market, a market with over 600 years of history. Myeong-dong’s combination of historical significance, nearby tourist attractions, and prime shopping has established it as the ultimate tourist destination in Seoul.
